I will post a bit about Lith Printing soon including papers and chemistry that I use. In the mean time check out Diane Kaye's excellent article about Lith Printing that appeared in Creative Image Maker Magazine. Her article starts on Page 6 of this PDF file.

Tin Foil and Adrenalin

Daily assignments at a small Midwest newspaper can be boring with ribbon cuttings, Rotary Club elections and farmers tilling the soil. How interesting can you make a photo for a light bulb sale fundraiser? I embraced the challenge of trying. I reminded myself that what might seem mundane to me was someone else’s fifteen minutes of fame and I needed to treat it that way.

Blithe vs Lithe

Since much of my discussion in this blog is going to be about Lith printing I originally was going to title it “Lithely I Go”. However when I realized there is little about me that is “marked by effortless grace” I decided to modify it to blithely. When I go into the darkroom I do feel “lighthearted and carefree”, yes, even “showing a lack of due concern” so this change of one letter is actually a more accurate description of my approach to printing and sometimes photographing.

I plan to share my adventures with the alternative Lith printing process as well as any other alternative processes that I experiment with along the way. I will also share information on my background and some of the cameras I use to capture my images.
